People can be wonderful.
But there are some times we feel unseen, unheard, abandoned by these people.
Whether it has to do with personality types, a bad day at the office or too few Oreos, sometimes people around us do not make us feel appreciated.
When friends fail to return texts, do not ask to spend time with you and hardly ask questions about your life it can be taxing. If you’re anything like me, their actions can lead to the assumption that they don’t give a flying squirrel turd about you.
And maybe that’s true.
But part of learning to love ourselves means accepting who we are even if other people do not treat us as we would like.
Not only will mastering this result in freedom. Grabbing hold of this truth will also help you manage your emotions and priorities in the years to come.
Well great, it sounds wonderful but… how?
Learning it is a heck of a lot easier to do when you realize: YOU ARE LOVED by someone who is infinitely more powerful, delightful and knowledgeable than anyone you will ever meet on planet earth.
So, the first step in coming to this realization is:
A) Spend time with the one who made you
If you ever doubt how loved you are, I want to remind you. The Creator of this Universe, the King of everything gave His only Son’s life for you so you could live and see the Father’s face. Even when no one else is, He is pursuing you. He is in mad love with you, no matter how many Oreos He ate prior to meeting with you.
B) Choose to believe this: you are known
He knows you better than you know yourself. Luke 12:7 tell us, “the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” He also keeps track of all the rough stuff in our lives. Psalm 56:8, “You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.”
C) Keep seeking His perfect Love
If you aren’t feeling appreciated or loved today, take time to ask Him for what you need. He will be faithful to provide and fill your heart with more love then you could imagine. He made your heart and personality and He alone will fill in the empty spaces.
Yours in His Love,
